Is your clinic secure enough to withstand a data breach? Online scams are becoming more frequent and sophisticated, and your allied health practice contains a wealth of private information that makes you an irresistible target for hackers. But we’ve got your back—this month, you’ll find a series of resources to help you protect your digital records, alongside our usual round-up Cliniko updates and news.

Features

  • The Treatment note completion report now includes notes that have been written by any practitioner for any appointment, even if they’re not listed as the practitioner on the booking. This makes it straightforward to keep track of any draft notes related to your appointments.
  • A small change to the wait list means that you can now filter by appointment type. If you have an opening for a specific type of appointment, it’s quick and easy to find any patients who are waiting for that and get them booked in!
  • As part of ongoing improvements to security and privacy, the login page on the Cliniko website will now send you a unique 6-character code during the sign-in process. If you have your login page bookmarked, this won’t affect you; it’s only if you access it directly from the “Log in” link on the website.

Security tips

  • Enabling 2FA (2-factor authentication) on any account with sensitive information is the single most important step you can take to prevent a data breach. This article on 2FA was published a few years ago, but it’s just as relevant today—learn what 2FA involves and how you can set it up.
  • When a new person joins your team, it’s important to set up their technical access with privacy and security in mind. Having clear procedures for new hires means fewer headaches for you down the road! If you’re not sure what your onboarding policies should include, have a look at our checklist.
  • A truly secure clinic requires you to take a number of precautions. If you’ve enabled 2FA, you’re off to a great start, but there are more steps that you can take. At a minimum, we suggest making sure that you’re ticking off these five essentials.

Featured app

Finger-Ink provides paperless forms that integrate with Cliniko to make the intake process easier for you and your patients. You can send forms to patients before their appointments (via text or email), and the information they fill in automatically syncs to Cliniko. It’s possible to customise your forms with branded backgrounds, policy consent fields, video fields, body chart fields, signatures, and more. Plus, patients can use the forms to add photographs, which can help you recognise and greet someone even if you haven’t seen them in a while.

That’s all for now

Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you soon with another round of news and updates!
