Cliniko this week: Upload your own templates

If you’re looking to ditch your paper forms and treatment note templates, a recent change we’ve made to Cliniko means that it’s now possible to create a digital version in seconds. Instead of needing to manually re-create your paper templates electronically from scratch, this update means all you need is a PDF or an image handy, and Cliniko will do the rest. You’ll end up with digital templates in Cliniko that are customised for your clinic and ready to be used.

Why should you digitise your forms and treatment notes?

We’ve spoken before about why going paperless is worth it. For starters, digital forms and notes are much more secure than their paper counterparts. When you upload your forms and notes in Cliniko, the data will be encrypted and stored on our secure servers, as well as backed up daily, preventing prying eyes and accidental loss.

Digital notes and forms are also more convenient for both you and your patients. When you use Cliniko’s treatment notes, you’ll be able to access them securely on any device, at any time. Likewise, by using Cliniko to create and send forms to your patients, they’ll be able to complete them from their own devices in their own time—whether that’s in your reception or the privacy of their home. It’s a win-win.

This change to Cliniko makes the process of manually re-creating your paper forms and note templates as digital versions far less time consuming than it was in the past, so it’s easier than ever to go paperless.

How does it work in Cliniko?

You’ll find everything you need to enable this new feature under Settings in Cliniko, where it will allow you to upload existing PDFs or images (just make sure each file is less than 5MB). If you’re on the go and using Cliniko on your mobile, you could even snap a picture of a paper document—which works for both printed or hand-drawn forms. Just pick whichever option suits you best, whether that’s selecting an image from your photo library, taking a photo, or choosing files stored on your device.

Sit tight for a few moments as your file gets converted, then watch as it shows up in your templates list! While any formatting and images will be removed, your new template will otherwise behave as though you’d created it from scratch in Cliniko. You’ll have full flexibility to customise your templates however you want—if any changes are needed, you can edit the template once it’s been imported.
